Two Legendary Fords Come Back to Life

Boreham Motorworks has signed a licensing agreement with Ford Motor Company to produce a limited series of iconic Ford models.

The history of Ford is particularly marked by competitive models that have each contributed to the giant’s legacy by testing technical solutions in competition that later appeared on the road. In this regard, rallying is one of the most formidable testing grounds. Therefore, some of the historical jewels that made Ford shine on roads, circuits, and rallies will be recreated by Boreham Motorworks.

A Look in the Rearview

The first jewel from the blue oval to make its grand return will be the Ford RS200 on the occasion of its fortieth anniversary. The RS200 is one of the first rally cars homologated for the road. This reversal of the norm met the requirements of Group B regulations, which stipulated that 200 units must be produced to allow a competition version to enter the World Championship. Its first sale by Ford dates back to 1984, but its sporting career was unfortunately very short with the discontinuation of Group B. Equipped with a mid-engine, cutting-edge four-wheel drive transmission, and a lightweight composite body, the Ford RS200 has since become one of the most coveted collectors’ items from the golden age of rallying.

But rally enthusiasts may be even more touched by the Ford Escort MK1. Launched in the late 60s, the MK1 simply won everything! It is the perfect blend of lightweight design and wicked dynamics that ensured exceptional handling and agility both on roads and in rallies. The MK1 remains today the queen of historic rallies.
