Why is the Tesla Model Y much more expensive in Belgium?

Tesla promises us in France Model Y starting at 36,990 euros, a sweet dream for our friends from the flat country.

Tesla has accustomed us to great commercial operations, dazzling clearances, sensational discounts, but also to some major disappointments. By announcing this week the Tesla Model Y starting at 36,990 euros, the American manufacturer made a lot of noise, but to our knowledge, no new vehicle has been sold at that price!

From the launch of the operation, we expressed concern about the lack of available vehicles except for a demo Model Y with 55 km on the odometer. A gift horse shouldn’t be looked at in the mouth, but an odometer that shows more than 10 km is not that of a new car, even if it has never been registered!

Cheaper Teslas are nowhere to be found

A week after the launch, still no new Model Y available at 36,990 euros. Incomprehensible since the operation is supposed to last another 7 weeks!!! We went to check in Belgium to see if they had any… and we thought we were doing quite well in France.

Not only is the base Model Y more expensive in Belgium at 45,970 euros compared to 44,990 euros in France, but it also doesn’t benefit from any promotions, even phantom ones. Poor Belgian friends. They can, however, benefit from cars under 39,990 euros with the Flemish government’s 5,000 euro bonus and a little push from Tesla. Upon checking there are… 2 available and they already have mileage! For a truly new model, nothing in stock for less than 47,000 euros, so you have to order and wait.

On both sides of the border, one imperative anyway: keep an eye out for future promotions! The new Tesla Model Y code Juniper should be presented soon. And whether we are in France or Belgium, we are going to see what a Tesla-style clearance looks like!
