The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Experiences an Evolution That Upsets Tesla

The electric SUV from Ford has not yet made its final statement against the Tesla Model Y Performance and Porsche Macan 4S with an extra boost of power.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E may not be the newest on paper, but the magic of electric vehicles means improvements are ongoing. New battery, new electric motors, new electronic management, infotainment menus, the evolution is endless. So much so that it can be confusing, to be completely honest.

Thus, the United States is testing, a few months ahead of Europe (the Atlantic crossing always takes time due to homologations), a new version of the Mach-E GT whose qualities will cascade down to the model catalog afterwards. But the oddity comes from a “Tesla” sales method: for 995 dollars (922 euros), customers can unlock an extra boost of power.

0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds

To understand correctly, this new update includes elements developed for the already marketed Mustang Rally in France among other places. Thus, power is now set at 480 horsepower and torque rises from 135 Nm to 950 Nm! A rabbit punch accident prevention system is necessary…

Now, the acceleration to 100 km/h is 0.5 seconds quicker and better than rival Tesla Model Y Performance (3.7 seconds) and the new Porsche Macan 4S (4.1 seconds). Finally, with its net 91 kWh battery, the range is confirmed at 514 km.

With a bit of luck, the commercialization of this new vintage will occur by the end of 2024 in Europe for a price around 65,000 euros. This is halfway between the Tesla Model Y Performance (57,990 euros) and Porsche Macan 4S (93,000 euros).
