MG HS from €19,990 in France? The Dacia Duster trembles!

The new gasoline and/or plug-in hybrid SUV from MG could announce an incredible price of less than €20,000 in the coming hours.

HS, that’s a funny name that could quickly take the taste of laughter away from the competition. First of all, all the SUVs that are still 100% thermal, both gasoline and diesel, such as the Dacia Duster (starting at €19,690) or others like the Peugeot 2008, etc. MG is set to deal a blow with a card that will hurt, especially since it is not affected by the increase in customs tariffs between Europe and China that applies to electric vehicles (for now).

In the United Kingdom, the new MG HS is already on sale, and it should not be long before it arrives on the European continent. However, upon reviewing the prices, the entire industry is trembling: the starting price is £24,995, which is effectively €29,102. But there’s a “but”!

Europe Always Cheaper than the UK

First of all, in the UK, cars have the steering wheel on the right, which means that their Chinese manufacturing is tailored, with slightly higher logistical costs to England. Furthermore, the cost of living on the other side of the Channel is historically much higher than in France.

Thus, all prices for new cars are significantly higher there. In the only MG catalog, we can play around comparing and deducing that the price of the future MG HS will be much lower than in England.

Across the board, one constant: the price in euros, even before conversion, is already lower than in British pounds. Thus, one can reasonably think that the new MG HS in gasoline could start below the €20,000 mark thanks to the discounts that the Chinese manufacturer is fond of. And even if the price were to be slightly higher, at worst €21,990, this SUV would have strong arguments to present, such as its 7-year warranty, its ultra-digital dashboard, its trunk of over 500 liters with the seats in place, its power of 170 horsepower (1.5-liter turbo), etc.

Only a few days left to wait before knowing the final prices, including those of the interesting plug-in hybrid version with an electric range of 103 km. This means no ecological penalty and daily trips without consuming a drop of gasoline. Even some 100% electric cars could feel overshadowed by this competition.
