This new Cadillac will sadly never be produced

Cadillac presents us today with a beautiful concept car that is impossible to bring to the road. No matter, we love it!

Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept… Just the name has no chance of going into mass production! But it is particularly well chosen because breaking it down word by word allows us to cover the very broad spectrum of interesting proposals made by Cadillac in this 100% electric 2+2 coupe.

Opulent. Cadillac seems to have decided to integrate into a single vehicle all the technology and luxury it has at its disposal. First and foremost, luxury is omnipresent with the best materials available on the market. But the main asset of the car is the level 4 autonomous driving, which is still prohibited worldwide, it should be noted, relying on multisensory modes that not only enhance safety but also the relaxation of the driver who becomes a passenger. These modes are accessible via a large screen that runs the entire width of the cabin and a heads-up display in augmented reality. No need to lift a finger, everything is accessible hands-free. While the car moves autonomously, the cabin transforms into a lounge of cultural and artistic experiences thanks to an intuitive infotainment system.

Velocity. Triggered by the touch of the multifunction joystick, Opulent Velocity switches from autonomous mode to the Velocity experience in one second. Once Velocity is activated, the steering wheel and pedals emerge, and the passenger becomes the driver is invited to take the wheel. The front seats are directly coupled to the door, which secures the driver during high-speed maneuvers. The sporty design of the car is inspired by the hybrid V-Series.R hypercars from Cadillac seen this year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Access to the front and rear seats is via enormous butterfly doors.

Concept. Between the level 4 autonomous driving not yet approved, the impractical doors for everyday use, and the body not conforming to the most basic safety regulations, this car is unfortunately just a concept. So what? Cadillac offers us a vision of its 100% electric future that is both modern, luxurious, and sporty. It doesn’t matter if this car never hits the road; it challenges us, makes us react, and especially makes us reflect on what we can expect from the car of tomorrow. And it’s very beautiful, so what more could we ask for?
