Bradé, the Ford Mustang Mach-E cheaper than the Ford Capri

Fratricidal duel at Ford where the very successful and charismatic Mustang Mach-E is cheaper than the new Capri SUV.

There is a generational clash currently at Ford between the garage sale of unsold stock of 2022 or 2023 Mustang Mach-E, and the arrival of the very opportunistic Capri.

A perfect storm with the recent price drop of the Ford Capri below 47,000 euros so it can benefit from the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros. This effectively lowers its price to 42,900 euros. At the same time, the “old” Mustang Mach-E is being discounted by 15,000 euros. As a result, the smaller version, with a small battery and small motor, costs less today than the Capri.

But what should we make of it?

Factually, it can be said that the Ford Mustang Mach-E is currently lagging in terms of efficiency. Although it is prettier and more dynamic, it presents a significant argument if you are a Parisian: it weighs less than 2 tons and is therefore not subject to the new tripled parking rates above this limit. This applies to the Ford Capri which, as soon as it sets foot in the capital, will be taxed more than a 30-year-old diesel car. Follow the logic of Anne Hidalgo…

The Mustang Mach-E, despite its lighter performance than the Ford Capri, suffers from the weight of years with less efficient energy management, to the point of admitting 190 km less autonomy. The match is therefore settled. It’s a pity, because for other aspects, the comparison was far from ridiculous. Size, habitability, double trunk front and rear, acceleration, the comparison leaned rather in its favor.

Alas, the Ford Capri will soon unveil one last argument in the coming weeks: a 170-horsepower version with a smaller battery that is even cheaper… but will perform just as well as the Mustang. However, know that there are still a significant number of available models in stock with the 98 kWh battery and 335 horsepower. With good negotiation skills, and because dealers want to offload them, you could make an excellent deal!
