Long Range Driving, is the Tesla Model 3 Perfect?

Tesla Model 3 Propulsion Grande Autonomie

The Tesla Model 3 arrives in France in an almost perfect version with a large battery and two-wheel drive.

We should nickname it “Desiree,” this cheeky Tesla that has made us wait! For months, we had been aware of its power consumption data, but we were starting to seriously doubt Tesla’s intention to launch it in France. However, the argument of range is decisive for us, as elsewhere, when it comes to switching to electric or simply renewing a model. High range means a large battery, and we could have feared that the model would be heavier. Not at all! With a weight of 1810 kg compared to 1836 kg for the Propulsion, it is even lighter thanks to a battery with higher energy density that now offers a record range of 702 km! And the icing on the cake, it does almost 1 second better in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint at 5.2 seconds versus 6.1 seconds for the base version.

This Model 3 Long Range benefits from its twin relationship with the Model Y to gain technical advancements. The platform is common and nearly 75% of parts are shared, so why not take advantage of it?

And the price, you might ask? At 44,990 euros, Tesla delivers a monumental blow to European and even Chinese productions, as to our knowledge, no other car offers such a level of performance, such a level of equipment, and such a range at a lower price. The Tesla magic continues to work.

The American manufacturer is taking the opportunity of this model’s arrival to update the pricing structure of the model. In fact, it is forced, as by placing the Long Range at this price, it would simply put the basic Propulsion model on the pillory by maintaining its price at 41,490 euros. The latter drops below the 40,000 Euro mark and still retains a bit of appeal. That’s 5,000 euros less than the Long Range Propulsion, which is now 5,000 euros cheaper than the All-Wheel Drive Long Range. In the end, it’s a logical pricing structure.

No concessions, however, for the Performance model, which sells very well and doesn’t need it. And anyway, the high-end models should remain a bit more expensive; otherwise, they become commonplace…
