When you associate the Mercedes Class G, an iconic off-roader, with Moncler, the favorite down jacket brand of the elite accustomed to upscale ski resorts, you shouldn’t expect a miracle. The choice of vehicle remains quite logical since you encounter more Class Gs in Megève, Gstaad, or Courchevel than in the Vosges forests. It’s not easy for the fashion designer, music producer, and creative director, NIGO, who got stuck with a poor 1990s model that didn’t ask for anything, to blend these two worlds. At least he has been kindly entrusted with designing an urban, gender-neutral capsule collection, perfectly aligned with the values represented by the Class G, to keep his spirits up.

So in the end, we have a big off-roader from a different era measuring 4.5 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, and 2.0 meters high, olive green at the front and green at the rear, with black and gold exterior accents. Special mention goes to the gold-plated fuel canister. As it’s important to understand that Moncler is involved in the project, the entire rear of the vehicle is dressed in a quilted matte covering that reminds one of the famous down jackets. Sorry but it makes us think so much of little Dachshunds dressed in a tiny coat for winter! Only bigger, of course.

20 units of the Mercedes-Benz Class G Past II Future, referencing this fortunately unique work of art, will be offered for sale. Proof that the initiative doesn’t quite fit the current trend, they will be based on the Diesel 450 d version which has an average consumption of 10 l/100 km and CO2 emissions in a combined cycle of 261-227 g/km. At least they won’t be dressed in a down jacket, but the worst part is that they will certainly have no trouble selling…
