Bentley will finally unveil its first electric car!

7 years after the presentation of the concept car EXP12 Speed 6e, Bentley is preparing for the biggest revolution in its rich history.

In May 2017, Bentley electrified the Shanghai Auto Show with a 100% electric prototype called EXP12 Speed 6e. From there, one might imagine that the British brand could have inspired Chinese manufacturers… This concept foreshadowed a strategic shift in Bentley’s future with the production of electrified vehicles. The first model to debut in this technological direction would be the Bentayga SUV just a year later. However, it was impossible not to wonder when the brand would make the 100% electric shift, especially given such a developed prototype.

The Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e featured a revolutionary high-speed charging system. It also offered the capability to be recharged conventionally via a simple household socket. The vehicle’s range allowed it to cover the distance from London to Paris or from Milan to Monaco on a single charge, which is still more than 350 km! You might wonder what could be revolutionary about that? After all, any Tesla can do just as well. Certainly, but remember we were in 2017!

It has taken a long time to finally arrive at this 100% electric Bentley, but aside from Rolls Royce, which brand stands to gain more from integrating a silent powertrain into its models? Bentley is not associated with decibels but with luxury, calm, and pleasure. This Thursday, November 7th at 2:00 PM, during an online presentation, the Crewe manufacturer will unveil the details of its first fully electrified product as well as other strategic updates. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait another 7 years to see a 100% electric Bentley hit the road with a whisper.
