MG launches a new electric SUV under €16,000!

MG ES5

MG has launched the commercialization of its new electric SUV MG ES5 in China, a model that would fit perfectly on our roads.

While MG is trying to keep its electric car sales afloat in France despite customs sanctions, the Chinese state-owned SAIC Group manufacturer already has its hands full in its local market against giants BYD and Tesla. To boost sales, the Sino-British brand relies heavily on this quite attractive new model.

The MG ES5 definitively breaks away from the designs inspired by the brand’s British past. A break initiated with the MG4 continues with this model, featuring tapered LED lights and an aggressive grille. The wide wheel arches with plastic protections and the curved hood line enhance its dynamic stance. Its dimensions are standard and ideal for all markets, measuring 4,475 mm in length, a wheelbase of 2,730 mm, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,620 mm in height.

An MG that has everything to please

MG emphasizes the very low center of gravity of the ES5, announced at only 530 mm, placing it below the first third of the total height. This achievement is largely thanks to the 110 mm thick CATL battery pack. A lower center of gravity means better road handling, reinforced by an ideal 50/50 weight distribution.

The interior is complete but very traditional, featuring a 15-inch multimedia screen, a 10-inch driver display, wireless charging, and only four speakers in the entry-level version.

The MG ES5 is available with two battery options: 40.1 kWh and 62.2 kWh, and a single propulsion motor of 125 kW (168 hp). But the real advantage of this model is not under the hood, but on the bill, with an entry price of 117,000 Yuan, or just over 15,200 euros. Such a price is, of course, completely unimaginable in Europe due to taxes and import costs, but this model fits European standards so well that the question of exportation can only be seriously considered!
