Citroën Slashes the Price of the C5 Aircross with an €8,680 Discount

Marketed in 2018, then refreshed in 2022, the Citroën C5 Aircross is entering its final phase of life, the one where promotions explode.

When discounts exceed 6000 euros, you can already start pulling out the Posta and making predictions about the next replacement of a vehicle in a manufacturer’s catalog. So when this discount easily surpasses 8000 euros — 8680 euros in the case of the Citroën C5 Aircross — it clearly signals the end of the line and the end of production.

Is the Citroën Store playing the discount retailer?

We are still just as surprised by Stellantis’s aggressive commercial tactics on the Stores of each of its brands. Discounts online are always XXL, whether at Peugeot, Fiat, Opel, Alfa Romeo, or Citroën. The rivalry between direct sales and dealership (which involves a commission for the seller) reaches heights unknown elsewhere.

Does the customer actually benefit from this approach similar to Booking for hotel rooms? Perhaps by trying their luck directly in-store, the buyer would fare even better and receive better service afterwards for vehicle maintenance…

Regardless, let’s just note these practices with a massive clearance campaign on the Citroën C5 Aircross. The first models are hence exchanging hands for less than 26,920 euros in the PLUS trim. Upon closer inspection, these are the last examples of the SUV equipped with the (criticized) 130-horsepower Puretech 3-cylinder 1.2-liter engine and manual transmission.

With 140 grams of CO2 emitted per kilometer (a consumption of 6.2 liters per 100 km in mixed cycle), the ecological tax, or malus, will be an additional 983 euros in 2024. But in terms of major qualities, it offers driving pleasure, comfort of suspension, and a huge trunk of at least 580 liters.

With a weight of 1483 kg, it is also not subject to the weight-related malus or other penalties from the Paris City Hall for parking in the capital. That becomes a real selling point nowadays.

Ultimately, beyond the poor reputation of the Puretech engine block which doesn’t break like glass, this Citroën C5 Aircross is at the end of its life and presents a fantastic business opportunity for those searching for a non-flashy yet pleasant daily SUV.
