What better than a striking performance on the track to establish the legitimacy of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale?

The funniest, or the saddest depending on your perspective, in this story is that this magnificent Alfa Romeo is certainly capable of going much faster! But when you name a car 33, and produce only 33 units, you need a top speed with a maximum of 3 in it. As a joke, it’s even revealed that the car can brake from 100 to 0 km/h in… 33 meters! Yet it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.3 seconds. It’s a pity it’s so quick; we almost had a perfect copy.

For these high-speed tests, Alfa Romeo chose the famous Nardò Ring, located in Salento, where the most renowned car brands perform their tests. Built in 1975 by FIAT, the “test track” in Puglia covers an area of 700 hectares, scattered with woods and Mediterranean scrub, and has 20 test tracks including a unique ring in the world. Designed for high-speed testing, it has a diameter of 4 km and a length of 12.6 km. If you remember the formula for calculating the circumference of a circle, you’ll understand that the Nardò oval is actually a perfect circle! Considered the fastest circular racing circuit in the world, it offers different inclinations and relative compensating speeds on each of its four lanes. Thanks to its low paraboloid profile, the driver feels like they’re on an endless straight when driving on all lanes at the compensating speed that balances the centrifugal force. It’s a remarkable tool for going very fast, and our Alfa Romeo didn’t miss out on that opportunity.
