Mercedes launches the A-Class from 389 €/month without deposit

At the end of its life, the very successful Mercedes A-Class will soon be replaced. Now is the time to launch major promotions.

This hints at the next return to the stable for the Mercedes A-Class, the fourth of its name, unveiled in February 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show. Initially criticized for its compact size, which copied sector references, the A-Class was somewhat jealous of BMW Series 1 or Audi A3, but also French models such as Renault Megane or Peugeot 308. The idea was to target a younger, more dynamic clientele.

To stand out, Mercedes went all out with an ultra-polished and sporty design. Inside, the onboard technology comparable to a higher category, as well as the materials, marked a significant improvement compared to the previous generation. And the success was there.

A Relatively Short Career

By 2025, the Mercedes A-Class will be entirely replaced, confirming the German manufacturer’s strategy of relatively short lifecycle cycles. The 3rd generation appeared in 2012, so here too, about 6-7 years earlier. But above all, Mercedes has no choice: the A-Class must be electrified.

To do this, a brand-new platform has been designed to accommodate electric or hybrid powertrains, depending on the choice. Knowing this, customers are hesitating with their decisions, and Mercedes must pull out all the stops to convince them to give it another shot, even briefly.

This is where a Long-Term Rental (LTM) offer makes sense: no long-term commitment, all-inclusive rates, and until the end of 2024, no down payment. This is the main advantage of what Mercedes offers with the A 180 Progressive Line, listed at 39,149 euros (excluding the €450 ecological penalty), available from 389 euros per month.

The LTM spans 37 months and 45,000 kilometers, a very appealing mileage of 15,000 km per year. Without a down payment, the total cost will be 14,393 euros, about 36% of the original price. That’s very reasonable!

What is the A 180 Class?

It is, of course, the entry-level model, equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 150 horsepower, paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The driving experience is very satisfying. In terms of dynamism, it is modest with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 9.2 seconds. The combined WLTP fuel consumption stands at 5.9 liters per 100 km.

The standard equipment is very comprehensive: GPS navigation, electrochromatic interior mirror and power outside mirrors, rearview camera, parking sensors, LED headlights, heated front seats, automatic climate control, steering wheel paddles, 17-inch alloy wheels, etc. Finally, the standard color is black… non-metallic.
