The Thunderbolt of Xiaomi YU7!

Everyone was expecting, above all the best, it must be admitted, from Xiaomi’s first SUV, and we are not disappointed.

Xiaomi has no plans to slow down. After making a strong debut with its first electric sedan, which is also its very first vehicle, the SU7, the Chinese brand already announces its second model, the YU7, expected for summer 2025. And while the SU7 proved that Xiaomi can compete with giants like Tesla, the YU7 seems well determined to make an even bigger impact.

Unveiled on social media by Lei Jun himself, the YU7 made a sensation with this simple statement: “Here is the latest member of the Xiaomi EV family: Xiaomi YU7.” Simple, factual, exactly what we expect from Xiaomi EV, the automotive division of the Chinese phone giant Xiaomi. In China, when a manufacturer makes a beautiful car, it’s the whole country that celebrates, not just the creator.

Stretching nearly 5 meters long, with a spacious 3-meter wheelbase and an impressive top speed of 253 km/h, this SUV combines power and elegance. Under the hood, two electric motors (220 kW at the front and 288 kW at the rear) promise top-tier performance, all supported by a CATL battery with technology that remains mysterious but intriguing.

The YU7 follows in the footsteps of the SU7, which achieved tremendous success. Launched in March 2024, this first model not only appealed with its three versions (Standard, Pro, and Max), but also shook Tesla on its own turf. In just a few months, over 100,000 SU7s were sold, reaching the annual goal well before the end of the year. And Xiaomi isn’t stopping there: the brand now aims for 130,000 deliveries in 2024. The most astonishing part is that transitioning from a coupe sedan silhouette to an SUV doesn’t make the model heavier; it makes it sportier, more feline. We were promised Ferrari Purosangue inspiration, and we almost wonder if it’s not even better…

With the YU7, Xiaomi aims to continue its meteoric rise in the electric automotive world. Facing Tesla and BYD, which are reaching the heights, Xiaomi proves it is much more than an outsider. It is a serious contender for the throne. The verdict is expected in summer 2025!
