Sluggish Sales, Tesla Is Struggling!

Tesla just announced disappointing deliveries, well below analyst expectations and its own forecasts.

Tesla revealed its production and delivery figures for the fourth quarter and the entire year 2024. The American manufacturer delivered 495,570 units in the fourth quarter, a figure far below expectations and its own projections published just two months ago. Tesla’s goal was to exceed 515,000 units to show a slight increase in annual deliveries compared to 2023 and, most importantly, to surpass analyst expectations which were at 500,000 units. A double disappointment, despite figures that many manufacturers would be happy with!

Because despite these results falling short of expectations, Tesla sets a new quarterly delivery record. These figures were achieved thanks to significant discounts, expanded referral programs, and incentives such as free charging or access to advanced autonomous driving. Anything more would be excessive…

For the entire 2024 tour, Tesla produced 1,773,443 vehicles and delivered 1,789,226, marking a 1% decrease compared to 1,808,581 deliveries in 2023. This decline is particularly striking considering the 38% growth in 2023.

Despite these disappointing results, Tesla continues to dominate the electric vehicle market. However, increasing competition, marked slowdown in growth, and uncertainties related to governance could weigh on its future. While the overall automotive market is down, the electric vehicle market outside Tesla is experiencing significant growth. So perhaps it’s finally time to reassess a strategy that was once innovative but has since been widely copied in order to avoid stagnation.
