Skoda Launches Production of Its Latest Electric Weapon

The production of the most affordable electric SUV from the Czech brand has begun in the historic Skoda factory.

Skoda has started mass production of the Elroq, its 100% electric compact SUV, at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. This model, built on the same flexible assembly line as the Skoda Enyaq and Octavia, is part of a strategy aimed at quickly responding to changing demand. In 2024, part of the Octavia production was moved to the Kvasiny plant, allowing Mladá Boleslav to reach a daily capacity of 600 Elroq units.

Designed on the MEB platform shared with the Enyaq, the Elroq competes with its rivals in terms of price, even reaching parity with some thermal models in several European markets. With a competitive starting price starting from 33,300 euros in France, this model combines a large-capacity battery with a generous standard equipment, putting it among the most affordable options in its segment.

As Skoda’s first model to adopt the Modern Solid design language, the Elroq is available in three battery and motor configurations. The entry-level Elroq 50 develops 170 hp, while the Elroq 85 offers up to 580 km of range in WLTP cycle and rapid charging from 10 to 80% in 28 minutes thanks to a power of 175 kW.

Since its debut at the Tour de France and its official unveiling in October 2024, Skoda reports that more than 20,000 orders have been recorded. This success highlights the importance of the Elroq for Skoda, which is strengthening its commitment to electrification while boosting sales figures for its parent company Volkswagen, which is in need of good results!
