Smooth Progress for the BMW iX

Launched in 2021, the BMW iX continues its rocky journey with increased performance and more refined design

The BMW iX, a pioneer of electric mobility for the brand with the propeller, enabled the German group to venture into this new world but did not find a large audience. As a reward for faithful service, it receives a second wind with a new generation offering enhanced performance and optimized design. Scheduled for spring 2025, the lineup includes three models: BMW iX xDrive45, iX xDrive60, and iX M70 xDrive.

The innovations of BMW eDrive 5th generation technology allow a significant improvement in performance and efficiency. The motor power has been increased: the BMW iX xDrive45 now reaches 300 kW (408 hp), while the iX xDrive60 offers 400 kW (544 hp). The flagship iX M70 xDrive produces 485 kW (659 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The range, also optimized, reaches up to 701 km for the iX xDrive60, according to the WLTP cycle.

There are no radical changes under its masculine exterior; the gains are made possible thanks to advances in power electronics management and a new high-voltage battery technology. The charging systems have also been improved, with a maximum DC current power of up to 195 kW for the higher-end models.

A more refined iX

The exterior design shifts towards increased sportiness. The grille, redesigned and illuminated with the Iconic Glow option, and the angled bi-LED lights modernize the vehicle’s visual signature. The Sport package, now included as standard, adds aerodynamic details and specific finishes, while the M Sport trim and M Sport Pro pack offer additional elements like 22-inch wheels and distinctive interior accents.

The interior combines luxury and dynamism, with M multifunction seats, a sports steering wheel, and high-end materials. Options such as the electrochromic panoramic roof or the Bowers & Wilkins sound system enhance the user experience.

Finally, the BMW iX updates its advanced driver assistance systems, including Driving Assistant Plus and Professional Parking Assistant. Manufactured in Dingolfing, it allows BMW to maintain a foothold in the high-end electric SUV market.
