Tesla Model Y 2025: Here are the 19-inch rim wheels without hubcaps

As the first produced units join dealerships across Europe, the Tesla Model Y 2025 unveils its standard wheels.

Not a day goes by without interesting news in the world of the Tesla Model Y. As the first deliveries to customers begin in March in Europe, the initial display units are currently arriving at dealerships. Consequently, it’s possible to see Model Y 2025 on transport trailers.

The photo shown here, taken from the Tesla Model Y in French Facebook group, features a 2025 Propulsion version equipped with the “small” 19-inch wheels. These are normally covered with plastic wheel covers to enhance aerodynamic performance.

More sporty than the old 19-inch Gemini wheels?

Compared to the previous 19-inch Gemini wheels used on the first generation of the Tesla Model Y, we notice that the color is now black. The design is much sportier with 5 spokes and an wing-shaped curvature that further improves aerodynamics, even without the wheel covers. The comparison with the old wheels below is striking.

So, a dilemma now arises for future Tesla Model Y drivers: drive with or without the wheel covers to enjoy the look? The idea of driving without the covers is to ensure fewer kilometers traveled.

Why change the 19-inch wheels?

The real, simple, and cynical reason is to prevent the previous Tesla Model Y from being equipped with the new wheel covers. The clips to attach to the wheels will not be compatible, and the vice could even (though this cannot be verified yet) involve modifying the bolt spacing so as not to replace the wheels with new ones. A way to protect new buyers from the rapid obsolescence of their Tesla.

Hard to blame Tesla, which wouldn’t be the first manufacturer to act this way.
