Renault reimagines the legendary Renault 5 Turbo from the 80s with the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a “mini-supercar” electric.

The brief from the diamond badge manufacturer for this Renault 5 Turbo 3E was to combine bold design, exceptional performance, and cutting-edge technology. Inspired by the mythical R5 Turbo and Turbo 2, this modern version stands out with its unprecedented architecture and wheel-mounted motors developing 540 hp, guaranteeing agility, spectacular drifting, and lightning-fast acceleration.

Designed on a dedicated electric platform, the R5 Turbo 3E benefits from an 800-volt architecture enabling ultra-fast charging: only 15 minutes to go from 15% to 80% thanks to a 350 kW DC charging power. Its 70 kWh battery provides an estimated range of over 400 km in WLTP mixed cycle, while maintaining a compact weight of around 1,450 kg for an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 2.7 kg/hp.

Between Heritage and Modernity

The design incorporates the iconic features of the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2, while integrating modern elements such as taillights inspired by the Renault 5 E-Tech electric. With a compact length of 4.08 m and an impressive width of 2.03 m, the R5 Turbo 3E combines the agility of a city car with the presence of a supercar. Its carefully crafted aerodynamics, widened fenders, and exuberant details like the front splitter and side air intakes optimize efficiency and performance.

Equipped with 540 hp wheel-mounted motors, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 270 km/h. The four MULTI-SENSE driving modes (Regular, Snow, Sport, Race) include a “drift assist” function for customized performance on road or circuit. The interior blends sportiness and modernity with Alcantara bucket seats, a rally-style handbrake, and OpenR screens with integrated navigation and Google services.

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be produced in 1,980 units, numbered in homage to the launch year of the R5 Turbo. The first deliveries are scheduled for 2027, with extensive customization options for a truly unique model.
