What’s new with the new Renault Austral?

The Renault Austral subtly evolves with a revamped exterior design and a new light signature.

Without a major revolution, the Austral aligns with the visual identity of the Rafale and New Espace models. Changes include a redesigned front end, a grille featuring relief patterns, and advanced LED headlamps.

Inside, the Renault Austral benefits from new ergonomic front seats and updated upholstery. Noise insulation has been improved with new door seals and laminated windows on certain versions. The sliding rear bench extends by 16 cm, allowing customization of the interior space and optimizing cargo capacity, which ranges from 527 to 1,736 liters depending on the configuration.

In terms of engine options, the Renault Austral is available with a full hybrid E-Tech 200 hp version, coupled with a multi-mode automatic transmission without a clutch. This powertrain has a mixed fuel consumption of 4.7 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 106 g/km (pending homologation data). A Mild Hybrid 160 hp version with automatic transmission is also offered in select markets.

Built on the CMF-CD platform, the Austral is equipped with the 4Control Advanced four-wheel steering system and 32 driver assistance features. Its OpenR Link multimedia system, integrating Google, offers numerous apps and features, including driver recognition for automatic activation of user preferences.

The model is available in three trim levels: Evolution, Techno, and Esprit Alpine, each offering specific features in design, comfort, and technology. It is manufactured at the Palencia plant in Spain and will be marketed in several European countries by summer.

The Austral Remains an Austral

The exterior design features dynamic lines and relief elements on the grille and wheel arches in Gloss Black. New body colors, including Outre-Mer Blue and Satin Pearly White, expand the palette.

The interior emphasizes comfort and technology, with a dual OpenR screen totaling 1,000 cm² of display area, Bluetooth connectivity, CarPlay, Android Auto, and an inductive charger. The cargo capacity adjusts to users’ needs thanks to the modularity of the rear bench.

The Renault Austral aims for a balance between performance, efficiency, and driving enjoyment. The full hybrid E-Tech 200 hp engine offers multiple driving modes, including 100% electric driving under certain conditions. The 4Control Advanced system improves maneuverability in urban settings and stability at high speeds, while Multi-Sense settings allow customization of driving parameters.

Finally, the OpenR Link system receives continuous updates and includes Google services, such as Google Maps navigation and incident notifications. The Renault Austral also features driver fatigue detection and predictive maintenance via the My Renault app, contributing to a safe and personalized driving experience.
