How does the 433 km range of the Peugeot e-208 compare to its rivals?

Peugeot has updated its small electric city car, the E-208, which now benefits from an extended range reaching 433 km in WLTP cycle.

This is a significant improvement compared to the previously announced 408 km. This development places the E-208 ahead of some direct competitors in a similar price range, such as the Opel Corsa Electric (428 km) or the BYD Dolphin (426 km). However, it still falls short compared to the MG4 Luxury, capable of reaching 450 km between charges. And the new MG4 expected later this year promises even better!

But the little lion will inevitably compete on our market against its younger, more vibrant French cousins. The Renault 5 E-Tech, a notable competitor, offers up to 405 km of range with its 52 kWh battery. Meanwhile, the Citroën ë-C3 provides a maximum range of 320 km with its 44 kWh battery. Sochaux has the advantage on this single criterion.

Range, but not only

This improvement concerns the 156 hp version, the most powerful in the lineup. Beyond the increase in range, Peugeot now includes an intelligent route planner as standard on all versions. This system suggests the most efficient routes and indicates available charging stations along the way, making long-distance trips easier.

Another new feature is that the version with the high-capacity battery now offers a « vehicle-to-load » (V2L) function. Through this, the battery can power external electrical devices up to 3.5 kW. This allows, for example, charging an e-bike or plugging in a small grill directly into the car. Summer is coming, you never know.

No specific information has been released regarding prices. However, Peugeot is unlikely to stray too far from the current price of €31,700 excluding bonuses for the Style version, in order to maintain the E-208’s competitiveness in an increasingly contested segment. It’s almost tempting to say that purchasing decisions may ultimately come down to personal taste. But is it always that simple?
