Honda Has a Solution for the Couch Surfing Adventure Seekers

Honda unveiled an innovative concept, called the “Dream Pod,” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its iconic CR-V.

The Honda plug-in hybrid CR-V, one of the best-selling compact SUVs worldwide, is now equipped with a pretty cool option. The first of its kind offered by the brand in Europe, it aims to provide a unique and environmentally friendly camping experience, responding to the growing demand for autonomous and comfortable travel solutions.

The “Dream Pod” draws inspiration from Japanese capsule hotels and offers a sleeping space for two, complemented by a stove, a sink, and various comfort amenities. Its design is based on the EGOE Nestboard 650 module, which fits perfectly into the CR-V’s 617-liter trunk. With the rear seats folded down, a double mattress unfolds to create a cozy space, while a hidden drawer contains a stove, a foldable sink, and storage for utensils.

An affordable touch of luxury

This concept is based on the plug-in hybrid version of the CR-V, offering an electric range of 79 km and a silent, zero-emission mode. With a ground clearance of 159 mm and advanced traction modes, it is designed to tackle various terrains. On board, accessories such as LED lamps, USB outlets, and blackout curtains enhance comfort and privacy.

The “Dream Pod” exemplifies a rapidly growing trend in the automotive sector: brands like Tesla and Xpeng also offer similar modular arrangements, tailored to customers seeking versatile mobility solutions.

To demonstrate the capabilities of the “Dream Pod,” Honda partnered with astrophotographer Benjamin Barakat. During an expedition in the Italian Alps, he captured spectacular images of the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades cluster, thanks to the vehicle’s comfort that allowed him to explore remote locations.
