This is not an Audi… but an AUDI

As we know, Chinese motorists are fond of large models. Audi plays on this sensitive point, going as far as to capitalize its name completely.

At the Shanghai Auto Show 2025, Audi officially announced the abandonment of the rings in favor of its name in uppercase on the grilles of its models designated for the Chinese market. The goal, the interest, the impact? Honestly, we’re still figuring that out, but we will have to accept it and get used to talking about AUDI in the Middle Kingdom. And to celebrate, the German automaker pulled out all the stops with the E5 Sportback, a model exclusive to the Chinese market now in production version. Imagine a fastback sedan, 100% electric, a bit larger than a Q6 but more compact than a Q7. This little gem is built on the brand-new “Advanced Digitised Platform,” a result of collaboration between Audi Germany and SAIC.

And in terms of power? It’s mind-blowing. The E5 comes in four versions: 295 hp, 402 hp, 570 hp, and a top-of-the-line version with… 776 hp! Yes, 776. With this, the fastest quattro model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Not bad, right?

But wait, there’s more. All models are equipped with a 100 kWh battery and an 800 V architecture. The result? Ultra-fast charging that provides 370 km of range in just 10 minutes. The total range? Up to 770 km according to Audi. And to make the journey as comfortable as it is quick, the E5 features all-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension.

Regarding the look, it stays chic and aerodynamic. The E5 takes cues from the concept E unveiled last year: minimalistic LED lights, floating spoiler, air curtains, sleek silhouette, and XXL wheels. The interior? It looks like a sci-fi cockpit, with a 27-inch 4K screen covering the entire width of the cabin. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 8295 processor capable of handling 30 billion operations per second, although most of the time, it will be… used to control the air conditioning.

And this is just the beginning! The E5 is only the first of a series of three electric models arriving by 2027. And all will feature the four uppercase letters AUDI on the grille.
