This small electric roadster offers 430 horsepower for 28,000 euros!

For years, we have been waiting for a lightweight electric car that is well-motorized without excess, and most importantly, beautiful!

We have already mentioned several times on Mobiwisy this little electric toy with a faux look of a Lancia Stratos. Pretty and smart, it immediately caught our eye! The JMEV 01, born from the collaboration between Xiaomi and Jiangling Motors Electric Vehicle, is officially arriving in China. This two-door Roadster delivers 430 hp for a starting price of 229,800 yuan, which is just under 28,000 euros!

Looking back at its journey: first presented in 2022 under the name SSC SC-01, this model is the result of work by Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology, a startup founded by Feng Xiaotong, a well-known Chinese automotive YouTuber. It took three years to transform this prototype into a commercial vehicle, a delay caused by difficulties in obtaining homologation in China. Yes, even in Asia, you can’t just do whatever you want with four wheels and an electric motor! Fortunately, the partnership with JMEV allowed the project to be finalized and production to start at the Nanchang factory.

In terms of design, the JMEV 01 draws all eyes with its lines inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos. Its inclined hood, sharp angles, and circular rear lights give it a sporty and bold look. The construction features a tubular chassis that limits its weight to 1,365 kg, complemented by double wishbone suspensions and racing brakes.

The essentials for enjoying yourself

Inside, simplicity reigns. Goodbye to gigantic screens, this Roadster opts for an LCD dashboard and physical controls for the air conditioning. Carbon-fiber seats reinforce the racing atmosphere, while a flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel adds a sporty touch.

Under the hood, two synchronous electric motors made by Enpower produce a combined power of 320 kW (430 hp). The 60 kWh NMC battery, signed CALB, offers up to 500 km of range according to the CLTC cycle, which is probably just over 350 km in WLTP cycle, but the lightness of the car could offer promising efficiency. Charging from 30 to 80% takes only 36 minutes. With a top speed of 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, the JMEV 01 has all the makings of an electric hot rod designed to have fun.

Offered at an attractive price, this Roadster currently has no direct competition. Better yet, Xiaomi’s involvement in the project opens the door to export for this small pleasure machine worthy of the Lotus Elise.
