Tesla Model Y Launch Series at €50,600… in the USA

Similar to China, the Tesla Model Y 2025 in Launch Series trim is offered in the United States at a price that would make Europeans envious.

Ah, Europe, this continent despised by the USA and China. This continent suffering from Stockholm syndrome where we love to be taken for fools, and even say thank you.

Thus, while the restyled Tesla Model Y is sold in China starting at 34,700 euros in Rear-Wheel Drive version and 40,000 euros in Long Range All-Wheel Drive version, it is now available in the USA in that single second configuration from 50,600 euros. And in France, you may ask? Not cheap: 60,990 euros.

Pro-Tesla supporters will explain to the “idiots who haven’t understood” that the European Launch Series is fully loaded (paint, wheels, hitch ball for the trailer…), but this is a diversion attempt. For two reasons: some options included are of no interest to anyone, and secondly, because the question of VAT remains, never included in American prices.

In the USA, more than a dozen states have no VAT at all on purchased products, and the average VAT is 8% across the Atlantic. Additionally, the same Launch Series in China and the US also enjoy a massive treatment, except for the wheels.

What about the offered colors?

Tesla is raising the bar even more in the United States where sales are falling due to Elon Musk’s political stances: colors are now free on the Model Y Launch Series. Four options are available for purchase: Stealth Gray, Pearl White, Ultra Red, and Quicksilver Gray (lighter).

In China, Glacier Blue adds further to the range, but all other shades besides the standard one (Stealth Gray) are charged as options, costing from 8,000 to 12,000 yuan (€1,050 to €1,580). Note that in Europe, only White and Black (not available on other continents) are offered in the launch package of the Tesla Model Y Launch Series.

Last but not least, a standout feature of the American version: without extra charge, 20-inch wheels are included!

Ultimately, Europe is hitting rock bottom in terms of treatment. Still, we await the launch of more affordable and less option-laden versions on the Old Continent… although these will be reflected in the price. Marketing magic at its finest.
