Peugeot E-3008: This €800 Option Is mind-blowing in 2025

While the race for autonomy is fierce in the electric car world, Peugeot seems to be operating with outdated commercial software.

The entire Stellantis group still lags somewhat in the electric segment. The combined power of the 17 brands isn’t enough because ambition doesn’t seem fully committed. The former CEO, Carlos Tavares, was among the skeptics, and the billions of investments needed to catch up with Tesla have never been made available.

This results in “hybrid” products designed to accept both thermal and electric mechanisms. However, to achieve the best autonomy and comfort ratings, the design must now be 100% electric or not at all. At Peugeot, the E-3008 is terribly heavy because, in trying to appeal to all uses, it mainly risks appealing to no one. On paper, this Peugeot E-3008 is a perfect rival to the Tesla Model Y, but not in practice.

While the finish quality is definitely better in the French SUV, its performance (210 hp versus 300 hp for Tesla), pricing, and comfort are significantly inferior.

Is real range far from reality?

The first criticism often raised about the Peugeot E-3008 is its actual range. Promised to be 529 km in mixed WLTP cycle thanks to its 73 kWh battery (compared to 60 kWh for a Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive), the French model actually only covers about 350 km. As for the 97 kWh version, with its even heavier XXL battery, the promise is 701 km. So, we can hope for about 500 km in real life, but only by December 2025… at the earliest. Peugeot has been delaying deliveries for months. It was scheduled for spring 2025, then August 2025, and now December 2025.

In this competitive battle, Peugeot seems to reject the obstacle by not integrating all the now commonplace technological solutions—such as the heat pump, priced at 800 euros (or 15.67 euros/month through leasing), that all its rivals possess!

However, in 2025, the heat pump is not a gadget. Depending on climate conditions—very cold or very hot—it significantly improves the efficiency of the cabin’s heating or cooling, thereby reducing energy consumption. In winter, the range gain can vary from 10 to 25%! That would amount to just about a hundred additional kilometers in winter and about fifty in summer at 30°C for the Peugeot E-3008. Not insignificant.
