The Private Tesla Cybertruck Missing Parts from China!

Elon Musk, grand master of rockets and electric Teslas, must be thinking tonight of his friend Donald Trump.

As expected, the trade war initiated by the American president hits Tesla hard. The latest episode, revealed by Reuters, is Tesla’s suspension of orders for parts from China for the Cybertruck and Semi, a direct consequence of a new surge in customs duties.

According to Reuters, the initial 34% tariff on Chinese goods, already steep under Trump, has risen to an astronomical 145%. Tesla, which had already squeezed to absorb the first increase, has thrown in the towel in the face of this new fiscal blow.

As a result, the launch plans for the Cybertruck this summer in Austin may take a small hit. And for the Semi, whose mass production is scheduled to start in early 2026, it’s another obstacle on the way. But rest assured, the Model 3 and Model Y, which are also victims of this offensive, are still on track.

Tesla Is Indeed Dependent on China

It’s not the first time Tesla has hit a wall of tariffs. The American company has already suspended deliveries of the Model S and Model X in China after Beijing retaliated with a record tariff of 125%. While Musk was transparent about the impact of this trade war, he remains silent for now regarding this new episode. And with Tesla lacking a dedicated public relations team, official responses may not come anytime soon.

In any case, the man at Tesla can now add “customs war” to his list of improbable adventures. After all, even princes sometimes have to bow to the whims of kingdoms.
