Futuristic, this Kia cabin is nonetheless completely realistic

With the EV2 Concept, Kia pushes the boundaries of automotive design while keeping its feet on the ground.

Unveiled during Milan Design Week 2025, the Kia EV2 urban SUV is 100% electric and embodies a new vision of mobility: futuristic in design, yet deeply rooted in the realities of a modern, sustainable, and functional lifestyle.

Inspired by the concept of “picnic in the city,” the interior of the EV2 Concept emphasizes friendliness, modularity, and openness. Far from being a simple exercise in style, this design offers a user experience centered around real usage, both in the city and on the go. The seats move, fold, and adapt. The flat floor, extendable elements, removable cushions, and portable speakers transform the interior space into a true mobile living room, designed for leisure as well as everyday life.

Kia focuses on decidedly original materials

But this realism is also reflected through the materials used. Gone are traditional plastics: welcome to linen fibers (AmpliTex), cultivated mycelium (Biomyc), and a cellulose composite (Simplifyber Fybron). Yes, linen and mushrooms. As for cellulose, it’s simply the most abundant organic molecule on earth! These bio-based and recyclable materials align with a circular economy logic, without compromising comfort or elegance. The texture is soft, the finish meticulous, and the colors subdued.

The mycelium, in particular, illustrates this alliance between technology and responsibility. Used for armrests or decorative surfaces, it offers natural insulation, an organic aesthetic, and a minimal ecological footprint. Kia is even testing over 180 samples to ensure impeccable quality.

With the EV2 Concept, Kia demonstrates that a cabin of the future can be both innovative and accessible, visionary and pragmatic. This urban SUV is more than just a concept: it is a promise. A promise of an automotive future that is desirable, sustainable, and tailored to the actual needs of users. A future where the vehicle’s interior becomes a complete living space, blending technology, nature, and comfort.
