DS Automobiles and the Monnaie de Paris celebrate the 70th anniversary of the DS with a series of limited edition coins.

DS Automobiles and the Monnaie de Paris continue their beautiful collaboration to pay tribute to an icon of French automotive: the DS, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

After the success of the first 10 euro silver coin, sold out in just a few days, the collection expands today with several new coins: a 10 euro silver coin, a 20 euro gold coin, another 20 euro high relief silver coin, as well as a mini set of euros.

All these coins are manufactured in France, in limited edition. They are designed as exceptional objects, perfect for DS enthusiasts or lovers of fine things.

Unveiled in 1955 at the Paris Motor Show, the DS made history with its revolutionary design by Flaminio Bertoni and its avant-garde technology. With innovations such as hydropneumatic suspension and swiveling headlights, it established itself as a symbol of modernity and elegance, having accompanied several French presidents.

Today, the French manufacturer draws inspiration from this heritage to design its models. Through this coin collection, the brand and the Monnaie de Paris celebrate this great lady of the automotive world. Among the highlights of the series, there is a depiction of the DS 23 from 1975 with luminous headlights, featuring a striking color contrast effect. Mirroring it, the DS from 1955 recalls the origin of the legend.

As Marc Schwartz, President of the Monnaie de Paris, emphasizes: “It seemed natural to us to celebrate the 70th anniversary of a mythical vehicle: the DS.” An elegant and refined tribute, worthy of a car that has traversed the ages with style.
