It’s official: Peugeot will unveil the highly anticipated e-208 GTi on June 13, alongside the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2025.

This new electrifying city car embodies the return of the legendary GTi badge, which has been absent since 2018. Named e-208 GTi, it promises 280 hp, a bold style, and exclusive finishes, marking an ambitious offensive against the Alpine A290.

The Sochaux manufacturer has teased the event on social media through the campaign “Catch the New Legend”. Peugeot also offers us the opportunity to follow the revelation live on a dedicated YouTube page. The presentation is already set to be a vibrant tribute to the GTi heritage, featuring a space dedicated to clubs of enthusiasts to showcase past glories like the legendary 205 GTi.

The story of GTis at Peugeot began in 1984 with the 205 GTi, which quickly became a true automotive icon. Lightweight, nimble, and equipped with a sharp chassis, it swiftly won the hearts of enthusiasts. Initially featuring a 1.6 engine with 105 then 115 hp, it later adopted a 1.9 engine with 130 hp. Its commercial success and sporty image forged in the 80s have left an enduring mark on the lion brand’s DNA. Even today, the 205 GTi remains a reference in driving pleasure and a highly sought-after model in the collector market.

Under the hood, the muscular city car is expected to adopt the Emotors engine with 280 hp, already used by its technical cousins from the Stellantis group, such as the Abarth 600e or the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce. Thanks to this common base, development has been swift, giving rise to expectations of a high-performance and already well-tuned vehicle.

However, beware, this version will not remain in the catalog for long. The next generation of the Peugeot e-208 will arrive as early as 2027, with a GTi variant planned for 2028 on the new STLA Small platform. The first e-208 GTi could thus become a collector’s item right upon its release.
