It is now official: the restyled Tesla Model Y is again eligible for the ecological bonus in France.

An order published on June 18 in the Official Journalfinally lifts an administrative blockage that was seriously annoying buyers and dealerships. The Propulsion version of the SUV, now produced at the Berlin Gigafactory, can once again benefit from aid ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 euros, depending on the buyers’ income.

Order of June 18, 2025, amending the order of December 14, 2023, establishing the list of versions of electric passenger cars that have reached the minimum environmental score required for eligibility for certain purchase or lease assistance for low-polluting vehicles

Since its restyling, dubbed “Juniper,” the Model Y had been excluded from the scheme. An even more frustrating paradox given that it was sold below the 47,000 euro threshold required for the aid, produced in Europe, and fundamentally compliant. However, due to the lack of validation of its new eco-score by ADEME (Agency of Ecological Transition), the model had not yet been listed on the official list of eligible vehicles.

Sales at a Standstill

As a result: thousands of cars were blocked in French delivery centers, Tesla dealerships were overloaded, and customers received emails and SMS mentioning a “temporary postponement” without clear explanation. In the meantime, some buyers accepted to forgo the bonus by signing a waiver, but the majority preferred to wait. The situation lasted several weeks, fueling criticism and confusion.

This administrative blockage occurred as Tesla was experiencing a collapse in sales in France. Between January and May 2025, registrations plummeted by 47%, with only 700 vehicles sold in May. The absence of the bonus on the Model Y, which was a global best-seller in 2023, was not unrelated to this decline.

Now, the Propulsion version is offered starting at 40,990 euros after the bonus deduction, and the Long Range Propulsion variant, boasting a WLTP range of 622 km, also becomes eligible starting at 42,990 euros. However, only configurations that respect the price threshold of 47,000 euros can qualify for the aid.

With this late but decisive regularization, Tesla will be able to restart its deliveries and hopes to regain a more favorable momentum in the French market.
