Mercedes announces the registration of two new 100% electric models to the list of environmentally scored vehicles published in the Official Journal.

To be honest, we don’t necessarily expect Mercedes cars to be on that list. When thinking of environmentally scored vehicles aimed at making the energy transition more accessible, we more readily imagine compact and affordable models rather than brand new Mercedes. And yet, two new electric models from the star manufacturer have just made their debut: the new CLA 250+ and the 7-seater EQB 300 4MATIC SUV.

Published in the Official Journal, this update takes effect on June 20. It results from a long evaluation process conducted with ADEME, as part of the environmental scoring system. This system measures a vehicle’s impact over its entire life cycle: production (including battery production), actual energy consumption, local pollution, use of recycled or bio-sourced materials… On all these points, both Mercedes models meet the good criteria.

Their eligibility allows buyers to benefit from several public aids: up to €4,000 in ecological bonus for individuals subject to income conditions, as well as a tax deduction on the in-kind benefit for companies. This means that, paradoxically, one can drive a brand-new Mercedes at a “relatively” gentle price.

These aids, initially designed to help low-income households transition to electric vehicles, also make premium offers more competitive. This is a direct consequence of a system that rewards environmental performance more than the selling price—as long as the latter does not exceed the regulatory ceiling.

Other models from the brand, such as the EQA 250+ and EQB 250+, were already included in the list of environmentally scored vehicles. This list is expected to continue to grow in the coming weeks.

Mercedes-Benz is also preparing for the arrival of the next generation CLA, with a claimed range of up to 790 km and ultra-fast charging. This combines electromobility, cutting-edge technologies… and luxury.
