At €18,000, this new Renault Clio is also economical at the pump

GPL is always associated with Dacia, but we often forget that a model from the parent company Renault is also available.

With a liter of gasoline likely to brush against, or even exceed, 2 euros more frequently, GPL is an option worth considering more and more if switching to hybrid or electric is impossible for you. Even if this fuel comes with a 20% higher consumption compared to SP95, its price per liter, often still below one euro, makes it an interesting calculation ultimately. Plus, you have a good ecological conscience due to the reduced emissions!

Perfectly equipped, adorned with a metallic paint and aluminum wheels, the Renault Clio Eco-G 100 is anything but a bargain car. And at 18,000 euros, it’s hard to find better in electric unless you have daily mileages below 100-150 km. The small 999cc three-cylinder engine is certainly not a powerhouse, but with the specific torque for GPL, it has no trouble moving the little Clio at a good pace.

A provision worthy of the higher segment

In the Generation trim, the Clio comes with the Orange Valencia metallic color as standard. Much more pleasant than the usual white. With its nice 16-inch alloy wheels, it presents a dynamic and still-current look despite its rich years of activity. The equipment is already very generous: manual air conditioning, rear parking assistance, electric front and rear windows, day/night mirrors, 60/40 rear bench, cruise control, and a 7-inch digital screen with smartphone replication. However, you have to give up the spare wheel which makes room for the GPL tank, but a tire repair kit ensures sufficient peace of mind.

With minimal preparation, driving on GPL presents no problem at all, as equipped stations are just as easy to find as charging points. So is GPL still the poor man’s eco-solution? In our view, it’s rather a choice that never disappoints.
