Does Tesla offer the perfect car with the Model Y L?

Tesla has never shied away from breaking the rules, and with the upcoming Model Y L, the Californian brand seems determined to redefine the standard for electric SUVs once again.

Announced by Tesla as an elongated and redesigned version of the best-selling Model Y worldwide, this newcomer checks many boxes: comfort, utility, modularity, and potentially strategic pricing. But is it the best Tesla ever made?

The Model Y was launched in 2020 as the little brother of the Model X, with the mission of democratizing the electric SUV. Based on the Model 3 platform, it quickly won over the world with its range, practicality, and value for money. Available in several versions including Rear-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Drive, and Performance, and later in a seven-seater option in some markets, it became the best-selling electric vehicle in the world. However, this latest seven-seater version has never fully convinced, particularly due to the lack of space in the third row, impractical seats, and ultimately sacrificed comfort.

Better than a small Model X?

This is where the Model Y L comes in with a major advantage: all the seats will fold flat. A significant evolution compared to the six-seat Model X, whose second row does not fold completely. As a result, the Model Y L could offer much more versatile cargo space than its larger sibling at a significantly lower price!

With the Standard Model Y, Tesla does not fix any of its problems

What is emerging is a family SUV that can combine elegance, comfort, modularity, and performance, without breaking the budget. If Tesla can keep the price slightly above that of the current Model Y while offering space comparable to a Model X, the Model Y L could become the new reference for the brand, perhaps even the best Tesla ever produced. It would still need to confirm its promises on the road, but on paper, the equation is already very appealing.
