The low-cost Tesla spotted in China!

A new Tesla model has recently been spotted in China, camouflaged but visibly more compact and simplified than current models.

This vehicle, revealed on the Chinese social network Weibo, still in prototype form, has all the features of a lighter version of the Tesla Model Y. The American manufacturer’s goal is to offer a 100% electric SUV at a much more accessible price. According to initial estimates, it could be sold for around €25,000 to €28,000.

Imagining this model on our French roads, the stakes become clear. A Tesla SUV for under €30,000, without even counting public subsidies, could completely change the game. It would directly compete with models like the Renault 5 while offering significantly more interior space.

Tesla downsizes the Model Y

To reduce costs, this version is expected to make some concessions: simpler rear lights, no screen for rear passengers, cheaper interior materials, a reduced central storage space… Even the decorative elements will be more basic, replaced by painted surfaces. However, the technical base will remain strong with state-of-the-art cameras.

The dimensions seem close to the current Model Y, but with a slightly lower front profile. Tesla is clearly aiming for simplicity while retaining what makes its models strong: simplicity, technology, and efficiency.
