Another bogus range record signed by Polestar
This page is translated from the original post "Encore un record d’autonomie bidon signé Polestar" in French.

Manufacturers are currently only talking about range and are continuously breaking increasingly absurd records.
After the absurd record set by Lucid primarily on downhill roads, here comes Polestar entering the race for range records. On August 13, 2025, a Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor electric SUV set the Guinness World Record for the “longest distance traveled by an electric SUV on a single charge.” The achievement: 935.4 km completed without any modifications to the vehicle, on public roads in the UK, under the official supervision of Guinness World Records.
Driven by three eco-driving specialists – Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker – the car traveled from Norwich to Bicester in 22 hours and 57 minutes. This corresponds to an average speed of about… 40 km/h. Covering 900 km at an average speed below urban speed limits must have been a real ordeal for the unfortunate drivers who literally crawled to capture every kilometer of range. The route primarily used small country roads, with some sections of fast road. The exact proportion of these fast roads in the journey is not specified but must certainly be just a few meters to justify adding those lines to the press release. At least, the performance took place under varied weather conditions, including rain.
Polestar simply shows that eco-driving should be taught
Equipped with standard 20-inch Michelin Sport 4 EV tires, the vehicle achieved an impressive average consumption of 12.1 kWh/100 km (5.13 miles/kWh), allowing it to exceed its announced WLTP range of 706 km. While these drivers were trained to maximize efficiency, they did not resort to unrealistic tricks, only exhibiting exemplary regular driving, where an average driver would normally drive at a normal pace without much thought to consumption.
The drivers took turns every three hours to stay alert, and the SUV achieved its WLTP range with still 20% energy remaining, before pushing to zero to maximize distance.

In the end, we prefer to note that with a fast charge of up to 250 kW (10-80% in 30 minutes), the Polestar 3 shows that… range is no longer a major constraint. Quite tasty, isn’t it? This record, obtained at a very cautious pace, proves that with a minimum of attention, a production electric vehicle can cover distances formerly reserved for internal combustion cars.
In summary, a great technical and human achievement, but obtained by driving much more slowly than any motorist ever would. Another record to forget.
