Leapmotor C10 Irmscher

The Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor and the German tuner Irmscher are teaming up for a limited series of 250 units.

How to appeal to the German market when you are a Chinese manufacturer with big European ambitions? By doing tuning, of course!

It is difficult to state here that Leapmotor is a brand of the Stellantis group. The European giant holds about 20% of the capital, having invested 1.5 billion euros in October 2023. At the same time, the two groups have created a joint venture, Leapmotor International, owned 51% by Stellantis, to manage the sales and production of Leapmotor outside of China.

Nevertheless, the European and global ambitions of Leapmotor will not survive a bankruptcy of the brand in China, as the two fates are intertwined. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate communication and products to please, and quickly. Because in Europe, the customs duties do not make Chinese electric vehicles affordable… and that’s a good thing.

To make its mark, Leapmotor has just announced, exclusively for the German market, a collaboration with the tuner Irmscher. This will soon lead to the production of 250 high-performance units of the all-wheel-drive electric SUV C10.

Set to be commercialized by the end of 2025, this Leapmotor C10 will feature 585 horsepower and a distinctive look. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is promised in 4.0 seconds, and the 81.9 kWh battery will have an 800-volt architecture for very fast recharges. This represents a significant evolution compared to the current version of the C10, which only has a 69.9 kWh battery with a limited range of 420 km WLTP (350 km real).

In China, where the new Leapmotor C10 is already being sold with a 74.9 kWh battery, the performance remains disappointing, with 605 km of range according to the mixed CLTC cycle, which translates to about 500 km in Europe. As for pricing, it starts from… 15,000 euros!

The physical and technical reveal of this Leapmotor C10 by Irmscher will happen soon, while the “traditional” evolution of the C10 will be held at the Zurich Auto Show (Switzerland) in October 2025.

In France, the current Leapmotor C10 is available from 30,250 euros, in both electric and hybrid versions.
