Fisker updates the Ocean
Ocean OS 2.0 enhances the user experience by improving performance, the powertrain, SolarSky, and energy management.
The update will be available for Ocean SUV owners across all initial European and North American markets of Fisker. Starting next week and throughout February, Fisker plans to offer the OS 2.0 for the Fisker Ocean to owners via a series of three OTA updates.
New features:
- Revision of front/rear torque distribution: On Fisker Ocean models equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain (One, Extreme, and Ultra), the power distribution ratio between the front and rear wheels changes from 50:50 to 45:55. This update improves traction and handling, making the Ocean even sportier and more dynamic in Fun and Hyper driving modes.
- Automatic vehicle hold feature: The automatic vehicle hold (AVH) replaces the current hill-hold in the Ocean, increasing the vehicle hold time to improve driving comfort and ease. AVH activates the brakes when the vehicle is stopped and only releases them when the driver presses the accelerator to start moving. This enhancement results from customer feedback: the existing hill-hold maintained brake pressure for about 2 seconds on slopes, and AVH now maintains brake pressure until the driver is ready to move the vehicle.
- SolarSky upgrade: On the Extreme and One models, the new SolarSky energy meter in the Charge/Energy menu of the central touchscreen displays the amount of solar energy supplied to the vehicle.
- Trailer sway mitigation: This stability control system monitors trailer oscillation, making towing safer and more comfortable.
- Brake disc cleaning: In rainy weather, the braking system automatically and imperceptibly clears water from brake disc surfaces to improve braking response.
- Waiting time: The sleep timer commands on the central touchscreen allow drivers to set how long the infotainment system remains in sleep mode, thereby reducing battery drain and increasing vehicle range. Drivers may notice a longer startup time when the sleep timer is shortened , to benefit from reduced electrical consumption.
- Driver profiles: Multiple drivers can save their preferences, privacy settings, and comfort configurations in their individual user profiles, including air conditioning and audio settings.
Performance improvements:
- Enhanced energy management and power conservation
- Reduced state of charge (SoC) loss during parking
- Changes to climate control calibration to improve defogging
- Improved heating/cooling performance in Earth mode
- OTA updates can be installed while the vehicle is plugged in (note: charging pauses during software update).
- Audio setting adjustments for better bass response on Ultra and Extreme/One models
- Key responsiveness improvements
- Enhanced daily meter accuracy
- Improved energy consumption display accuracy
The company plans to continue its software update strategy, deploying in phases to incorporate customer feedback on earlier versions and thoroughly test OTA technology.
