€9,000 in aid for the purchase of an eco-friendly vehicle for residents of Île-de-France

Since 2018, aid programs have been implemented for individuals in Île-de-France to support them in the ecological transition.

This regional scheme aims to improve air quality in Île-de-France by increasing the share of cleaner vehicles in the regional vehicle fleet. To achieve this, it subsidizes the purchase of a cleaner vehicle, as well as the conversion of a thermal vehicle to electric or hydrogen propulsion, also called “retrofitting”.

Starting January 1, 2024, the scheme evolves and is limited to vehicles manufactured within the European Union. Linking these aids to the carbon footprint of the country where the vehicle is produced is seen as a way to “limit the import of carbon pollution“. In return, the assistance increases to €9,000 for the most modest households, compared to €6,000 previously.

Who is eligible?

• Individuals whose primary residence is in the Greater Paris suburban area (excluding municipalities of the Greater Paris Metropolis).

For which vehicle?

• The total purchase price must not exceed €47,000 including taxes, options included, after potential commercial discounts and before deducting public aid.
• The final assembly must be done in a European Union country that emits less than 110 g CO2 per kWh of electricity produced.
• The purchased vehicle must be a passenger car with electric motorization.

Depending on the beneficiary’s reference taxable income per portion, the grant amount is:

• €2,250 for an annual income exceeding €30,508
• €4,500 for an annual income between €14,090 and €30,508
• €7,500 for an annual income between €6,359 and €14,089
• €9,000 for an annual income of €6,358 or less

This assistance can be combined with any public aid available within the Île-de-France territory. The total of public aids received for this purchase must not exceed 50% of the vehicle’s total price. This cap is increased to 80% for the two highest aid levels. It is the beneficiary’s responsibility to ensure compliance with this rate.
